Edenbridge

Sunrise In Eden

BY Greg PrattPublished Aug 1, 2001

Something about Edenbridge's brand of power metal lacks any power. The songs are pretty good, however, combining melody, melancholy and metal in a fantastical, but not silly, way. However, the soft-hitting operatic vocals make one turn red in embarrassment, as it just doesn't work. It's always nice to see women in bands in this male-dominated world, but regardless, most of the time Sabine's vocals just don't mix well with the music at hand. When they do, Edenbridge's potential shines through and hints at what future albums may sound like, but the crappy production sound further takes away from what could have been a musical equivalent of a good fantasy novel.
