This summer, we had Red Hot Jam when former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer joined Pearl Jam's touring line-up, and now Eddie Vedder is adding Jane's Addiction to the concoction to make Jane's Hot Jam — err, the Earthlings?
Vedder has announced a string of tour dates in support of his upcoming third solo album Earthling — which is set to arrive February 11 via Surf/Republic — after sharing lead single "Long Way" back in September. The musician will be taking that exact route across the US in 2022, and he's called in some high-profile backup.
Klinghoffer will once again take the stage with the Pearl Jam frontman, alongside current RHCP drummer Chad Smith, Jane's Addiction bassist Chris Cheney, guitarist/vocalist/Once star Glen Hansard and guitarist Andrew Watt. It's not quite a supergroup, but it's pretty close.
This isn't Cheney's first foray into supergroups either: a few months back, he teamed up with fellow Jane's member Dave Navarro and Foo Fighters' Taylor Hawkins to release two debut singles as NHC. Meanwhile, Smith and the rest of the current RHCP lineup are looking to release their new album with Josh Frusciante in spring 2022.

Converge x Chelsea Wolfe x Cave In is another non-supergroup that has emerged this year, alongside CanRock all-stars Anyway Gang, who recently returned to the studio.
