Earth Return with 'Full Upon Her Burning Lips'
Hear album track "Cats on the Briar" now
Published Mar 06, 2019Just over four years removed from sharing their Primitive and Deadly album, Earth have revealed plans to release a follow-up full-length.
Titled Full Upon Her Burning Lips, the band's ninth studio LP will arrive May 24 through Sargent House.
Engineered, mixed, and mastered by longtime associate Mell Dettmer, the album is said to feature "the expressive, nuanced, and tonally rich components of Earth's arsenal of sound" alongside a commitment to the minimalism of their earlier years.
"I wanted this to be a 'sexy' record, a record acknowledging the 'witchy' and 'sensual' aspects in the music… sort of a 'witch's garden' kind of theme, with references to mind altering plants and animals that people have always held superstitious beliefs towards. A conjuror or root doctor's herbarium of songs, as it were," guitarist Dylan Carlson explained in a statement.
A first song from the record, titled "Cats on the Briar," can be heard in the player below. Earth have also mapped out a U.S. tour alongside labelmates Helms Alee, and you can find dates for that trek below.
In 2017, Carlson teamed with the Bug for the collaborative LP Concrete Desert.
