After signing to Anti- late last year, psychedelic pop progenitors Dr. Dog are set to release their debut for the label on April 6.
Dubbed Shame, Shame, the record will be the first that the band won't self-produce, as they felt that getting outside the box should help "to continue their album-by-album evolutionary growth," according to their press release. So the album is being produced by production veteran Rob Schnapf (co-producer of Elliott Smith's catalogue Either/Or onward), whose production promises to bring a darker feel to the band's sound and "peel back the layers of strings and horns of past albums to emphasize the raw immediacy of [the band]."
In late January, Dr. Dog will also embark on a ten-week North American headlining tour. Supporting acts will be the Growlers for the first leg and Deertick for the third, while a supporting act for the middle of the tour is TBD. Dr. Dog will play in Toronto at Lee's Palace on April 14, a week after the release of Shame, Shame.
