After a rough year that saw the passing of long-time friend and fellow Gang Starr member Guru, and the associated aftermath involving Guru's shady associate Solar, Preemo finished the year on a serious high note by dropping the first release off of his Year Round imprint, boom-bap compilation DJ Premier Presents: "Year Round Records ― Get Used To Us." Predictably, the album bangs from start to finish, showcasing a wide range of talent, from vets such as KRS-One, Grand Puba and Freddie Foxxx to newcomers in the Preemo stable like New Jersey MC Nick Javas, Khaleel and NYG'z. There's really no point in singling out particular tracks, as it's best to press play and enjoy the ride. At this point in time, is there any doubt that DJ Premier is the best producer of all-time? Naysayers, allow me to present the latest piece of supporting evidence.
