Disma Outside Stage 2, Baltimore MD May 27
Published May 28, 2012While Disma adhere to the basic riff structures of death metal, they slow the pace of their music down to a churning crawl. Their set borrowed the slogging pace of doom, but didn't drag with it all the melancholy; instead of misery, Disma conjured ferocity, like a giant grinding huge granite molars together. Each song was a slab, especially the appropriately titled "Towards the Megalith." As the grinning, boisterous crowd created one of the slowest, strangest pits of the weekend, each headbanger engaged in a stomping troll dance, guileless vocalist Craig Pillard shuffled awkwardly between songs, asking the audience if they were staying properly hydrated under the blazing Maryland sun.
