Dirty Spells

'(untitled)'

Earlier this year, Vancouver musician Greg Pothier moonlighted from his Dirty Spells project to deliver the retro-pop-minded The Young & the Reckless EP, but his full-time band have now hit back with their untitled debut LP.

The 10-song follow-up to last year's Greetings From Hangover City EP dropped today (May 14) as a pay-what-you-want download on the group's Bandcamp page. It all kicks off with the spy rock-styled "Stingray," marked with dramatic violin stabs, wavy guitar runs and haunting theremin. The band get a bit more conventional on fumes-huffing garage rock blasts like "My Chemistry Friend" and "BA Barackus," but play the psych card on a white-noise-assisted extendamix of Greetings From Hangover City's "UFO."
