Despised Icon Sign to Nuclear Blast for First Album in 7 Years
Published Apr 12, 2016While resuscitated Montreal outfit Despised Icon's have been spending the past couple of years crushing crowds with the sounds of their back catalogue, they're now itching to smash your skull with something new. The band will deliver Beast, their first full-length of new material in seven years, this summer.
The Canadian death metal unit announced the project today (April 12) over social media, confirming that they've inked up with Nuclear Blast to release the album. A firm due date has yet to arrive, but it's said to drop sometime this summer. This marks the group's first full-length release since 2009's Day of Mourning.
"It's been 7 years since our last record and our batteries are fully recharged," the band said in a group statement, adding of the approach of Beast, "You'll hear sounds of our older slammin' Death Metal days blended with the speed and technicality of our latest records."
Despised Icon's initial run lasted from 2002 and 2010, wherein the band issued four full-length releases and toured heavily before breaking up. Following a four-year period of inactivity, they got back together in 2014 to play shows across Europe and North America.
They currently have a series of dates coming up across Europe.
