Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard is mostly associated with a very specific era of a very specific kind of indie rock, but that doesn't mean he can't let his love of hardcore punk shine through. The performer has shared a cover of Minor Threat's classic "Filler," and he's certainly put his own spin on it in the process.
The song, which was originally released in 1981 and featured the throat-shredding yelps of one Ian MacKaye, has been reimagined as a sparse piano ballad. It's really quite beautiful!
Gibbard shared the song on SoundCloud with the following caption:
I covered this only once at a solo show in D.C. in 2012. I felt like recording and sharing it today. enjoy!
