Death Cab for Cutie have announced plans for a new EP of covers titled The Georgia EP, to be released this Friday (December 4) exclusively through Bandcamp.

Recorded remotely, the five-song record includes covers of R.E.M.TLCNeutral Milk HotelCat Power and Vic Chesnutt

All proceeds from the record will go toward Stacey AbramsFair Fight, an organization that aims to "bring awareness to the public on election reform, advocate for election reform at all levels, and engage in other voter education programs and communications."

In a statement about the record, Death Cab wrote:

Last month, Georgia flipped blue for the first time in a Presidential election since 1992 — due in large part to the tireless efforts of Stacey Abrams and the men and women who work alongside her at Fair Fight.

We've recorded this collection of music as both a celebration of this monumental achievement, and to provide support for the fight ahead — in this case the upcoming special Senate election in January. With control of the Senate on the line, and with it the fate of so many things we care about, from climate action, to criminal justice reform, to voting rights, and everything in between — the stakes are uniquely high this time around.

The record will be available for the minimum price of $7 USD for 24 hours on release day as a part of Bandcamp's Bandcamp Fridays initiative.
