Death Cab for Cutie Announce North American Spring Tour, Play Toronto, Montreal

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jan 18, 2012

Last year, indie rock big wigs Death Cab for Cutie delivered their latest album Codes and Keys and toured large amphitheatres across North America. The next round of tour dates in support of the LP will see the troupe scaling down the venue sizes in favour of more intimate hall shows, but it also finds them augmenting their regular lineup.

As explained in a press release, an upcoming swell of concerts taking place this spring will be a "one-of-a-kind spring trek of intimate venues and historic theatres" that finds Death Cab joined onstage by San Francisco's Magik*Magik Orchestra. The two outfits previously collaborated on Death Cab for Cutie's VH1 Storytellers program, and the orchestra have also performed with the likes of Mike Patton, John Vanderslice, the Walkmen and the Dodos.

The special set-up will showcase itself in Canada twice, at Toronto's Massey Theatre on April 19 and the next night at Montreal's Eglise St-Jean Baptiste. The supporting slot for those gigs has yet to be announced, but the back half of the tour sees Youth Lagoon tagging along. You can check out the schedule below.
