Dead in the Dirt Reveal Full-Length Debut

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jun 6, 2013

A couple of months after grind crew Dead in the Dirt revealed that they were prepping their debut LP, the band have now delivered the details in full. Titled The Blind Hole, the Atlanta outfit's first full-length drops August 6 through Southern Lord.

A press release notes that the 22-song, 24-minute set was recorded with Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos) at Chicago's Bricktop Recording Studio last April and was then mastered by Brad Boatright (Nails, All Pigs Must Die, Baptists, Sleep). Apparently packed with "downtuned, caustic riffs" and blast beats, the record is said to be inspired by crust acts like His Hero Is Gone, Left for Dead and Drop Dead. The LP is also said to be laced with "enraged socio-political lyrical content and straightedge/Vegan ethics."

The Blind Hole follows the band's Fear 7-inch from 2011 and, like that release, features cover art supplied by Bo Orr.

Dead in the Dirt have a few upcoming U.S. dates this month, with a European tour apparently in the works. No word yet on whether the band will make it into Canada to support The Blind Hole. You can see their schedule as is down below.
