Daye Jack

"Hands Up" (ft. Killer Mike)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Dec 10, 2015

Run the Jewels rapper Killer Mike has been very outspoken about police brutality in the U.S., and now he's addressed the topic once again, this time by hopping on the political track "Hands Up" by fellow Atlanta artist Daye Jack.

The track features a swaggering hip-hop beat produced by Ryan Hunter and Ryan Spraker, and Daye poignantly croons, "Living with my head down, hands / No, no, don't shoot." Mike hops on the mic halfway through and raps, "Maybe the kid you refer to as a thug is just somebody else's baby." It emphasizes the familial impacts of a senseless death.
