David Bowie's Blackstar may have been overlooked by the Grammys when it came to Album of the Year nominees, but the BRIT Awards made a point of toasting the late singer at last night's (February 22) ceremony.
In addition to taking home the Album of the Year prize, Bowie swept the categories he was nominated in and also received posthumous honours for British Male Solo Artist and Best Rock Song for "Blackstar."
Bowie's son Duncan Jones and friend, collaborator and impersonator Michael C. Hall attended the ceremony and accepted the awards on Bowie's behalf. The former dedicated the Noel Gallagher-presented Album of the Year win to "all the kooks and all the people who make the kooks."
Jones has since taken to Twitter to attach an addendum to his televised address, adding a powerful and poignant, "Fuck cancer."
Hall, meanwhile, opened his speech for the British Male Solo Artist prize by saying: "If David Bowie could be here tonight, he probably wouldn't be here tonight."
