David Bazan Announces In-Studio DVD, Working On New Album

BY Josiah HughesPublished Aug 18, 2008

David Bazan was perhaps best known for the pseudo-Christian moral tales of his Pedro the Lion moniker and his synth pop side-project, Headphones. Still, since going solo in 2006, he has released his most critically lauded material on the Fewer Moving Parts EP, and is currently working on David Bazan’s Black Cloud, an album allegedly due early 2009 from Barsuk Records.

In the meantime, tastes can be satiated with BAZAN: Alone at the Mic, a DVD of solo material to be released on October 14. Produced by Bazan’s manager Bob Andrews, the DVD shows Bazan performing songs quietly in his own home and studio. Andrews said in a press release:

The idea was to capture David playing some of his favorite Pedro the Lion, Headphones, and Bazan solo songs in his home studio. We also filmed interview segments with him talking about Pedro the Lion, going solo, songwriting and more. We shot most of it in HD (it looks and sounds really great). We discovered that video from an old Apple iSight webcam looks pretty cool... so there's some of that too. This is the first official video project David has ever done and our standards were pretty high going in. We are both very excited about how it turned out.

David Bazan is currently on tour in Australia.
