As part of guest hosting a Halloween episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! last year, Dave Grohl had his head chopped off by Alice Cooper as part of a skit. Returning to the show as a guest last night (August 2), Grohl brought the severed head as a gift for letting him host the show.
Grohl revealed that after Alice beheaded him on the show, he took his severed likeness home: "I scared my kids with it, I scared the housekeeper with it, and it got to a point where I was like, 'I need to get this thing out of my house.'"
As for Kimmel's plans for the head, he told Grohl, "I think I'm going to give this to my mom."
While on the show, Grohl spoke about the forthcoming film PLAY in which he plays a 23-minute song on seven different instruments, jamming with Prince, and his ABBA fandom.

PLAY will be released on August 10 as a digital download and on streaming platforms, while the instrumental track will be available on a limited-edition vinyl on September 28.
