Dave Grohl Compares Upcoming Foo Fighters Record to David Bowie's 'Let's Dance'

"It's got groove, man"

Earlier this year, Foo Fighters revealed their long-awaited 10th studio album was finally complete. Now, lead singer Dave Grohl has postulated that the record will be their version of David Bowie's 1983 album Let's Dance.

Appearing alongside his mother, Virginia Grohl, in a new interview with ALT 98.7 FM, the frontman shared his feelings about the band's new record, including his sadness about not being able to tour it this spring.

"The record is so good, we're so excited for people to hear it, we're so excited to go out and play it," he said, disappointed about the band's recently postponed 25th anniversary "Van Tour."

"It's filled with anthemic, huge, singalong rock songs. It's almost like a dance record in a weird way — not like an EDM, disco, modern dance record. It's got groove, man," Grohl said. "To me, it's like our David Bowie's Let's Dance record. That's what we wanted to make, 'cause we were like, 'Yeah, let's make this really up, fun record!' And it's got its dark corners and whatever, but we were so excited to go out and play, and then we just hit pause on everything."

The postponed tour has officially been rescheduled to kick off in Hamilton, ON, this October. Meanwhile, Grohl has been keeping plenty busy while we all wait for the pandemic to blow over, entertaining fans in livestream events, telling ghost stories, performing for frontline workers and recounting old tales of jamming with the late Prince, as well as the time Mr. Bowie once told him to "fuck off."
