Now 27 years into making music together, Danko Jones have detailed their 11th studio album Electric Sounds, which they'll release on September 15 through AFM Records internationally and Sonic Unyon in Canada.
After sending files back and forth from their respective homes across the globe, and finally rehearsing in Berlin, the resulting album was produced by Eric Ratz. It includes guest spots from Fucked Up's Damian Abraham, Barenaked Ladies' Tyler Stewart and Exciter's Daniel Dekay.
"I'd like to think Electric Sounds falls in line with all our previous albums," bandleader Danko Jones said of the record in a release. "Over the years, we've carved out a sound and we're sticking to it. But if you were to zoom in and compare it to other albums, I'd like to think it's a bit faster than our other albums."
He added, "Initially, I wanted all the songs to sound like our song, 'Cadillac' — plodding, mid-tempo, heavy, and to the point. Our songs are usually about rocking, wanting to rock, enjoying life while rocking, and sometimes I'll sing about a woman. You can expect zero surprises!"
The band are previewing the 11-track effort today with lead single "Guess Who's Back," which is "not only the lead-off track to our new album ... it's also the imperative sentence everyone is begging to answer — Danko Jones!" said the frontman.
