It's been six years since he released a proper solo album with Toeachizown, but sonic voyager Dâm-Funk has refused to stop cranking out the damn funk. Following a handful of EPs and collaborative efforts, he's set to return with another new full-length.
The album is called Invite the Light and it's a concept album featuring 20 new songs from the prolific performer. The release is said to be "loosely biographical."
Though it's billed as a Dâm-Funk record, the artist certainly hasn't lost his collaborative spirit. The release features guest spots from Junie Morrison (of the Ohio Players), Q-Tip, Ariel Pink, Leon Silvers III and IV, Snoop Dogg, JimiJames, Kid Sister, Nite Jewel, Novena Carmel and Jody Watley.
Stones Throw will issue Invite the Light on September 4. It will be followed by a tour, including a Vancouver stop on September 10.
