Joe Keithley is punk legend, D.O.A. frontman, and current city councillor in the Vancouver suburb of Burnaby. Now, he's campaigning for reelection.
The election is coming up on October 15, and the man also known as Joey Shithead has announced that he's playing an acoustic set as part of a fundraiser for the Burnaby Green Party. The show takes place on August 20 at Lochdale Hall — the same venue where Keithley attended his first ever concert at age 14. The Hathaway Brothers (of Roots Round Up) will also perform.
Tickets cost $25 and are available here. Keithley promises to play his most political songs at the show. An email from Sudden Death Records calls Keithley "Burnaby's best city councillor." He was elected in 2018, narrowly getting elected by coming in eighth place (with eight seats available).
In other D.O.A. news, Sudden Death has repressed the albums Something Better Change (1980) and Hardcore 81 (the 40th anniversary edition of the 1981 LP).
