As previously reported, UK gloom rock greats the Cure have been putting together a North American tour that's set to hit the road in the new year. After teasing with the announcement of shows in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York, details of the full jaunt have now been revealed — and Canadian fans will be pleased to hear that they'll have a few chances to see the band in our home and native land.
The tour kicks off on May 11 in New Orleans and will travel through the southern United States and up the West Coast before landing in Vancouver on May 27. A Toronto show is also in the works, though the date is currently listed as May 12 or 13 with a message that reads: "on-sale and show info announced soon." Following that, the band will hit Montreal on May 14.
The upcoming dates mark the Cure's first proper North American tour since 2008, and the live lineup will feature Robert Smith, Simon Gallup, Jason Cooper, Roger O'Donnell and Reeves Gabrels "as they explore 37 years of Cure songs, mixing hits, rarities, favourites and as yet unreleased tracks in a brand new stage production."
Scottish post-punk outfit the Twilight Sad will open on all dates. See the full list below.
