Cryptacize's Nedelle Torrisi Gets Julia Holter, Dev Hynes, Members of Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti and Nite Jewel for New Solo Album

Cryptacize member and Sufjan Stevens collaborator Nedelle Torrisi has announced plans to issue a new, self-titled solo LP. It's the first album to be billed under her full name, and she releases it independently on September 3.

A press release explains that the 12-song effort was conceptualized by Torrisi and Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti member Kenny Gilmore while they were living in the same house in Los Angeles. It goes on to say that Gilmore could hear Torrisi making demo recordings from the other side of a wall before they began working on the cuts together. Two years later, the pair hit the studio for a two-week stretch to track the LP.

Gilmore is said to have performed the bulk of the instruments on the set, though guest musicians include Blood Orange's Dev Hynes, Nite Jewel's Ramona Gonzalez and Julia Holter.

Apparently the record jumps from girl-group sounds to musical theatre, while also offering up Sade-styled R&B on tracks like "Perfect Timing," "Psychic Returns" and "Cathartica." You can stream the album's first single "Double Horizon" in the player down below.

Last year, Torrisi released the "I Love Thousands Every Summer" 7-inch as Paradise and had issued earlier solo sets as Nedelle.
