Before 2021 was out, Slipknot returned to action with new single "The Chapeltown Rag," and frontman Corey Taylor has now confirmed that the band's seventh studio album will arrive this year.

This past weekend (January 8), Taylor hopped on Twitter to give followers a glimpse at what's in store creatively this New Year, writing, "Big Shit Coming, 2022 edition: ZvN updates, SK album, secret 'homecoming' plans, etc. Stay Tuned! 'Hold On To Your Butts' – Franklin D. Roosevelt."

The "SK album" Taylor alludes to will mark Slipknot's first full-length LP since 2019's We Are Not Your Kind, while "ZvN updates" concerns his film project Zombie Versus Ninja, his "gonzo horror-comedy" that was slated to begin shooting last year.

In November, it was revealed that Slipknot recorded their forthcoming seventh studio album with producer Joe Barresi. The band's Shawn "Clown" Crahan told Knotfest.com how they aimed to "exploit 'the Slipknot gene'" on the LP, sharing of the material, "It's way beyond Slipknot, it's more like god music."

Last year, Slipknot completed their Knotfest Roadshow tour behind We Are Not Your Kind, which featured moshpit bonfires and torn biceps.

Taylor made his solo debut in 2020 with CMFT. Ahead of further details on the band's new album, revisit Exclaim!'s Slipknot Timeline Feature.
