"Macrobytes" (video)

Midwest American hip-hop vet Coolzey has teamed up with Toronto producer/musician Fresh Kils for a new EP, aptly titled Kilzey. Before its official release at the end of the month, though, Exclaim! is giving you the first look at the pair's new clip for "Macrobytes."

"I essentially gave Coolzey access to my entire catalogue since 2001," Fresh Kils said in a statement about the collaboration. "He selected all these offbeat gems that had been passed over by emcees looking for more conventional hip-hop sounds. It's a side of me I never thought there'd be a home for and that's part of what makes him such a unique and important artist; he sheds light on things, expands the art form and he's unafraid."

Both artists draw on eclectic influences that span a wide range of genres, combining everything from country and reggae-tinged production from Fresh Kills to lounge, folk and pop-style melodies from Coolzey. Of course, the MC also proves that he can still spit a clever rhyme, as demonstrated in "Macrobytes."

The track's accompanying video, oddly enough, features the rapper filling up some patio flowerpots with topsoil. Check it out down below.

Kilzey is due out October 27 via Public School Records.
