Comet Gain Announce North American Release Date for 'Howl of the Lonely Crowd'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 2, 2011

While earlier this year it was announced that long-running English twee punkers Comet Gain would be issuing their Edwyn Collins-produced new album Howl of the Lonely Crowd over in the UK, fans of the band on this side of the pond were left unsure when they'd hear the disc, lest they pay for a pricey import copy or cruise the torrents. Hopefully they did neither, as the band have properly announced a North American edition of the set.

Though a few months removed from the disc's initial release, a press release confirms that Comet Gain's latest will hit our shelves October 4 via What's Your Rupture?

As previously reported, former Orange Juice leader Collins was assisted in the production department by and Brian O'Shaughnessy (My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream) and Alasdair MacLean of the Clientele, the latter also adding some guitar to the recordings. Other contributors include Matthew Sawyer (the Ghosts), Helen King (Shrag) and trumpeter Terry Edwards.

While we had already got a taste of what's to come with the "rousing mod anthem" "The Weekend Dreams" and fellow album track "Working Circle Explosive," the David Feck-led ensemble is offering up yet another preview of the platter via new tune "An Arcade From the Warm Rain That Falls," which you can download here or listen to below.
