Coldplay's Chris Martin Says His Self-Worth Is Low "Without Wembley Stadium Saying, 'You're Awesome'"

Considering they released their new single from space, it's safe to say that Coldplay aren't exactly down-to-earth at this point. Still, the band's frontman Chris Martin has explained that the pandemic has not been great for his self-esteem. After all, what's a pop star without an audience?

In a new interview with BBC Radio 2, the singer explained that 2020 took a toll on his self-worth as he realized he was just, well, a normal dude.

"Last year was a quite an eye opener," Martin admitted. "I was like, 'Who am I without Wembley Stadium saying, 'you're awesome?'"

Still, he said the pandemic has helped him do some soul-searching and try not to rely so much on what other people think.

"I'm trying in my life right now to not attach too much to being a pop star," he added. "I'm trying not to get my self worth from external validation."

Either way, Coldplay have just shared "Higher Power" — their first new music since 2018's Everyday Life. Produced by Max Martin, it's most certainly some pop star material. Revisit the song below.
