Coldplay to Preview 'Ghost Stories' on TV Concert Special

Coldplay will release Ghost Stories on Parlophone Records on May 19, but before the album is officially unleashed, the arena-filling British pop-rock band will preview some of the new material with an NBC concert special on May 18.

This hourlong Sunday night special, called Coldplay: Ghost Stories, will air at 7 p.m. EDT/PDT. It's being helmed by Paul Dugdale, who also directed Coldplay Live 2012 in addition to prior films from the Rolling Stones, Adele, the Prodigy and more.

A press release notes that this "in-the-round" show was filmed this past March in Los Angeles in front of an 800-person audience. It's apparently more than just a straightforward concert film, since it will "blend live-performance footage with cinematic film" and 360-degree projections.

In addition to new material, Coldplay will play some past favourites like "Viva La Vida," "Paradise" and "Clocks." Watch a short trailer for the special below.

Also below, watch a live in-studio rendition of the new track "Oceans." It was filmed for BBC Radio 1 and mixes folksy strumming with drum pads and atmospheric textures.
