Code Orange Kids Rebrand Themselves Code Orange for 'I Am King'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jun 5, 2014

Pittsburgh hardcore royalty Code Orange Kids are apparently going through a growing phase, with a one-two announcement alerting fans of both a new album and a name change. According to recently loosened press materials, the band aren't the young whipper-snappers they once were and will now be going by the trimmed down title of Code Orange.

A reason for the change was not given, though the outfit's first album under the modified moniker will be I Am King. The follow-up to 2012's Love Is Love // Return to Dust will be delivered September 2 via Deathwish Inc.

The 11-song sophomore effort was recorded and engineered by Converge guitarist/producer Kurt Ballou (Baptists, Kvelertak) and features bleakly titled tracks like "Unclean Spirit," "Starve," "Bind You" and "Thinners of the Herd." Song previews from the set are expected to be revealed sometime soon, along with pre-order info.

While the press release didn't detail too much about the genesis of the LP, the band did reveal the following lines to help promote the set:

Be no longer hopeless mission
For everything or none at all
See the world with code orange vision
Carve the words into your skull
