Back in November we reported on a poster going around claiming to be the 2008 line-up for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Well, as expected, it turned out to be bogus, but now two months later the festival's first batch of confirmed artists have been announced for the weekend of April 25 to 27.
Sadly, no My Bloody Valentine reunion or Radiohead, which many felt would be the obvious choices for headliners. Instead they've given concertgoers umm... Jack Johnson (?) on the Friday, Portishead on the Saturday and Roger Waters closing out Sunday night with a performance Dark Side of the Moon. Hmm... I guess that's fine, but not quite as legendary as their past accomplishments, like reuniting old favourites (i.e. Siouxsie & the Banshees, Pixies, Bauhaus, Jane's Addiction, the Jesus & Mary Chain) and bringing in showstopping acts (no one, it seems, will ever forget Daft Punk).
Alas, it's still great to see the Verve make their debut after a decade away, as well as the return of Love and Rockets, Portishead, the Breeders and of course, the original robots in disguise, Kraftwerk.
