City and Colour (a.k.a. Dallas Green of Alexisonfire) is days away from embarking a world tour behind last year's A Pill for Loneliness, and the songwriter has now revealed that his upcoming live dates will be "mostly solo."
In a statement today, Green recalled how he had lost friend and collaborator Karl "Horse" Bareham not long ahead of the album's release.
Bareham had co-produced A Pill for Loneliness and served as both a co-producer and engineer on 2015's If I Should Go Before You. He had also earned production credits on recent Alexisonfire singles "Familiar Drugs" and "Complicit."
"After losing...my dear friend and collaborator, a week before A Pill for Loneliness was released, it just hasn't felt right touring as if it's just another record cycle. Because it isn't," Green wrote. "I realized, if I want to keep touring, I have to make some changes. I decided I'm going to perform my upcoming tour mostly solo, accompanied by my longtime friend and multi instrumentalist Matt Kelly."
Green thanked his band and crew for their support and understanding, adding, "I didn't take this decision lightly. I just know it is in my best interest to calm my world down."
