Christina Aguilera's New Album 'Liberation' Was Apparently Inspired by Nirvana, Radiohead and Slayer

She's also shared the Kanye West-produced single "Accelerate" featuring Ty Dolla $ign and 2 Chainz

Controversial rapper and poop scooper Kanye West is sitting on a wealth of new material, including a solo record, a Kid Cudi collaborative album, a Pusha T LP, Teyana Taylor material and a new Nas offering — but he's not done yet. Kanye has produced the latest single from pop diva Christina Aguilera, too.

Titled "Accelerate," the new track will appear on Xtina's new album Liberation. The record is due out June 15 via RCA, but you can watch the video for the Kanye collaboration right now below.

The singer hinted at some rather surprising influences on the new material. Aguilera told Billboard that while making the new record, she would come home from her day job at the talent competition reality show The Voice and "blast hip-hop, or Nirvana, [Radiohead's] 'Creep,' Slayer" — or as she put it, "anything like that to get me out of that zone, that TV mode."

She also said that Liberation was driven by "so many different marches and people voicing their opinions and feeling okay to talk about things for the first time."

Despite the wide range of inspiration, Aguilera also revealed that her out creative output leans more towards the R&B and hip-hop spectrum with this record.

West gets credited as a producer, composer and lyricist on lead single "Accelerate," though it also features guest spots from Ty Dolla $ign and 2 Chainz. The track was recorded after West and Aguilera met at Rick Rubin's Shangri-La studios in Malibu.

"Outside of, you know, his controversial aspects, I just think he's a great artist and musicmaker and beatmaker," she told Billboard. "The artists that he chooses to pluck from different walks of life are so interesting."
