Rapping actor Childish Gambino had promised that he had a mixtape called STN MTN/Kauai on the way. It turns out that his plans a little different than we initially thought, since STN MTN and Kauai are actually separate (but connected) projects; the former is available now, while the latter has yet to be officially released.
Interestingly, STN MTN is being billed as a mixtape while Kauai is a companion EP that will follow at a later date. Childish Gambino told Complex, "It's a Gangsta Grillz mixtape that goes into an EP. The Gangsta Grillz mixtape is a dream, and the dream ends when I wake up in Kauai. And they go into each other; it's one complete project. You can download the mixtape and you can go buy the EP."
STN MTN is named after Gambino's hometown of Stone Mountain, GA (a suburb of Atlanta). Its 11 tracks find the rapper rhyming over some well-known tracks (like Future's "Move That Dope" and Ludacris' "Southern Hospitality") and original beats.
