Chicago's Weasel Fest Venue Promises "Everything Is Being Done to Ensure That It Goes Off as Planned"

March has been a rough month for Screeching Weasel fans who have had to watch the long-running pop punk band go down in flames. It all started at SXSW, when frontman Ben Weasel lost his shit and lashed out at two women. From there, his backing band sort of quit with a vague statement. To make matters worse, Weasel Fest, a celebration of Screeching Weasel's 25th anniversary, saw many of its biggest names drop off the bill.

However, Reggie's, the Chicago venue planning to house Weasel Fest from from May 27 to 29, remains optimistic that the show will go on, with the following statement on its website:

Screeching Weasel fans around the world who are wondering if Weaselfest will happen, please be assured that everything is being done to ensure that it goes off as planned.

Thank you.

Aside from the fact that Screeching Weasel are now just one very angry frontman, scheduled performers Teenage Bottlerocket, Chinese Telephones, the Soviettes, Chixdiggit, Kepi Ghoulie and Kurt Baker have announced they will not play the event. In other words, it would take a pop punk miracle for this show to go off as planned.
