First off, rock'n'roll re-creators the Strokes have returned with Angles, their long-delayed fourth album. Was it worth the wait? Read our review and find out.
Then we have Ontario doom metal outfit Woods of Ypres, who have earned the Exclaim! Mark of Excellence for their gloomy and melancholic re-release of Woods IV: The Green Album.
Having recently faced the struggle and adversity of a paralysis-inducing double brain haemorrhage, Edwyn Collins has persevered, releasing his first new album in four years, Losing Sleep. Also, We Are the City are back with a new lineup and release, High School. Lastly, we have the politically explicit Pharoahe Monch, who has returned with his iconic, free-jazz-influenced lyrical onslaught on new album W.A.R. (We Are Renegades). And drone rock ensemble Belong have earned Exclaim!'s Mark of Excellence with their latest noise-layered, shoegaze-influenced release, Common Era.
