Charlotte Gainsbourg Offers Up Record Store Day Split, Announces Live and Unreleased Collection

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Apr 13, 2011

As if there weren't enough cool, limited-edition releases to pick up on Record Store Day this Saturday (April 16), French pop royalty Charlotte Gainsbourg has tossed her hat in the ring as well.

Her contribution will be one side of a split seven-inch with Irish folk outfit Villagers. Gainsbourg's track, "Memoir," was written specifically for her by Villagers leader Conor O'Brien.

You can preview a clip of the softly sung, breezy acoustic number below. You can also check out Villagers' equally sublime cut "Set the Tigers Free," but in full. And you might want to show up to your preferred shop a little early, only 500 of these were pressed by Domino.

It's not the end of the world if you miss out on the collectible, though. Gainsbourg will issue the song as a digital single on April 25, and the song will also appear on an upcoming odds and sods collection titled Live and Unreleased. As its title suggests, the set will feature some live tracks and other rarities, not to mention a DVD documenting a recent road trip of hers. Because will issue the set sometime this fall.
