Pasadena wunderkind Charlie Hickey has announced his debut album under longtime friend Phoebe Bridgers' Saddest Factory Records banner. Nervous at Night arrives on May 20.

Teaming up with producer Marshall Vore, musician pals Harrison Whitford, Christian Lee Hutson, Mason Stoops and Bridgers herself on the record, Hickey cites the influence of "folk singers of yesteryear," as well as Taylor Swift, the 1975, Elliott Smith and Conor Oberst as inspirations on the album. Those introspective voices come into play throughout the record, which traverses the subjects of "fears, frustrations, and faith in friendships" over its 11 tracks.

The 21-year-old Hickey said of the record:

I only realized the theme in retrospect because they were written over a really long period of time. But it is true that there's a thread of growing up running through it, also transitioning into adulthood and having your inner child still be a very big part of you.

"I'd like to write songs that are for everyone," he continued, "that let people into my inner world while also hopefully making people feel less alone on their own."

Those hopes are at the forefront in lead single/title track "Nervous at Night," which arrives alongside its own video directed by Zoe Donahoe and Adam Sputh. Hickey shared of the track: "It's a song about being nervous for no particular reason, which is a running theme on this album, and also one that I think a lot of people, particularly of my generation, can relate to."
