Charli XCX Announces New 'Sucker' Due Date, Updates Cover Art

Though there's apparently no drama behind the decision, UK pop star Charli XCX has delayed the release of her much-anticipated sophomore effort, Sucker.

A series of tweets from the pop singer today (September 22) confirms that the record is no longer hitting stores October 21 via Neon Gold/Atlantic Records. Instead, it'll arrive in North America December 16, and January 26 in the UK and Europe.

Apparently, the delay is indebted to the success of summer single "Boom Clap," which popped up on the soundtrack to The Fault in Our Stars and as a standalone single. The song is also on Sucker.

XCX explained of the scheduling snafu: "it's all COOL nothing's WRONG the albums DONE but it's just no one really knew boom clap would do as well as it's doing...."

XCX also delivered updated artwork for the release, a rather on-the-nose shot of the singer holding a giant, heart-shaped lolly. You'll find that up above, while the record's tracklisting and the recent video for "Break the Rules" can be found below.
