Charli XCX has been making music for a long time, but she only put out her magnum opus BRAT last year. Since our attention spans have gotten shorter, so have album cycles, so it's unsurprising people are already asking her about her next record, though she's not worried about ruling another summer with it.
"I don't really feel the pressure to create another record like BRAT because when I was making it, even though I really believed in it and totally knew what I wanted to do with it, I had no idea how it would be received," the artist told CULTED at Cannes Film Festival. "I was really doing it for myself and marketing it in the way I wanted to for myself, but I had no clue that people would kind of connect to it in the way that they did."
She continued: "So yeah, I don't really feel the pressure because I feel that you can never really do the same thing twice, and my next record will probably be a flop, which I'm down for to be honest."
Despite not being sure how her next album will be received, she is fine if this summer becomes "BRAT Summer 2.0." "It's just kind of like a lifestyle, and I like that theory, so yeah, I'm gonna go with that for me personally."
