Chairlift's Caroline Polachek Reinvents Herself as Ramona Lisa for 'Arcadia' Solo Album

BY Alex HudsonPublished Feb 18, 2014

Caroline Polachek is best known as the vocalist for synth-pop outfit Chairlift, but she's now announced plans for a solo record under a very punny pseudonym: Ramona Lisa. Her album Arcadia is due out on April 15 through Terrible Records, with international releases arriving through Pannonica and Mistletone.

Polachek has dubbed the style "pastoral electronic music." A press release calls the album, which was written in MIDI, "a concept album of love songs that are nature allegories." It was made in an empty studio in Rome using a laptop without any instrumentals or external microphones.

The album cover is above and the tracklist is below. Scroll past that to watch a video for Arcadia's expansively atmospheric title track directed by Polachek along with Ross Menuez. The visuals are filled with creepy crawlies, lingering closeups of the singer and MIDI signals. The song is additionally available as a free download from Ramona Lisa's website.
