Cee Lo Green Deletes Twitter Account Following Questionable Rape Comments

"Crazy" hitmaker and former panelist on The Voice Cee Lo Green was accused of sexual battery in 2012 after a woman came forward and alleged he slipped ecstasy in her drink and had sex with her while she was unconscious. The sexual assault charges were dropped last year, and Cee Lo was sentenced to three years of probation and 45 days of community service after pleading no contest to felony ecstasy possession last Friday (August 25). Then, he made matters worse for himself with some extremely questionable tweets over the weekend.

The tweets have since been deleted, but Billboard reports that Cee Lo wrote, "People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!"

"If someone is passed out they're not even WITH you consciously! so WITH Implies consent," he added.

Cee Lo deleted those tweets and explained that the stand-alone tweets were being taken out of context. "Let me 1st praise god for exoneration fairness & freedom! Secondly I sincerely apologize for my comments being taken so far out of context," he wrote.

"I only intended on a healthy exchange to help heal those who love me from the pain I had already caused from this," he added. "Please forgive me as it was your support that got me thru this to begin with. I'd never condone the harm of any women. Thank you."

As of today, the performer's entire Twitter account has been deleted.

Cee Lo Green is currently working on a new solo album called Girl Power.

UPDATE: Following the controversy, Cee Lo's The Good Life reality show has been cancelled by TBS. However, sources tell the Hollywood Reporter the decision was made due to poor ratings, not the backlash.
