Each year, CBC Music's Toyota Searchlight hunts for Canada's best underground talent, and this year's competition will be even sweeter thanks to the involvement of Play MPE, a Vancouver-founded digital music distribution service.

Courtesy of Play MPE, the talent hunt's top five finalists — the winner, plus the four runners-up — will all receive curated music promotion distribution campaigns.

According to a press release, "Play MPE will be getting an artist's music into the ears of industry tastemakers such as radio programmers, music supervisors, curators (retailers, restaurants, and airlines), and media professionals." Play MPE has a global reach and recently hit a milestone of a billion distributions.

Play MPE handles music promotion distribution for thousands of labels, promoters and artists in over a hundred countries. The company recently gifted 2020's Searchlight winner, Shawnee Kish, a music promotion distribution campaign.

Searchlight kicked off its 2021 submissions this week (on April 19). Artists can submit an original song for consideration at CBC Music's website.
