Cat Power to Recreate Bob Dylan's Electric 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert in Full

Just like Dylan, she'll start the set on acoustic guitar before switching to electric

Cat Power has announced that she'll be taking the stage this fall at London's Royal Albert Hall to recreate Bob Dylan's iconic 1966 acoustic/electric set, which originally happened at Manchester's Free Trade Hall.

The set famously featured Dylan playing acoustic for the set's first half before switching to his electric guitar; Cat Power will do the same, performing Dylan's exact set in order.

Dylan's show took place on May 17, 1966, at Manchester's Free Trade Hall, but bootleg recordings of the concert mislabeled the venue as London's Royal Albert Hall. When the infamous recordings — which featured heckling audience members, angry at Dylan for going electric — were officially released as a double album in 1998, it was called The Bootleg Series Vol. 4: Bob Dylan Live 1966, The "Royal Albert Hall" Concert.

Cat Power Sings Dylan will take place Saturday, November 5. In a statement, the artist said: "When I finally got the opportunity to play The RAH, it was a no brainer. I just wanted to sing Dylan songs. And as much as any, this collection of his songs, to me, belong there."

Tickets go on sale July 15, and you can grab them here when the time comes. See a post from Cat Power about the show below.
