Baltimore, MD-based singer-songwriter Cass McCombs has released a new album every few years since his breakthrough effort, 2003's A. Just like clockwork, McCombs will follow up 2009's excellent Catacombs LP with a new album, Wit's End, this spring.
A press release describes Wit's End as McCombs' "darkest record to date," adding, "it seems he is going deeper into the mania of a man buried alive inside his self-made Catacombs, banging the stone walls, crying to be let out, and enjoying the quiet away from the outside world." Like Catacombs, the album was produced with the help of Ariel Rechtshaid.
Wit's End will be released on April 12 via Domino. Album opener "County Line" can be streamed below.
Wit's End:
1. "County Line"
2. "The Lonely Doll"
3. "Buried Alive"
4. "Saturday Song"
5. "Memory's Stain"
6. "Hermit's Cave"
7. "Pleasant Shadow Song"
8. "A Knock Upon the Door"
