If you were booked and busy this weekend (and/or scrolled through your Instagram Stories half-asleep), there's a chance you may have missed this little nugget of brilliance amid the flurry of cheers-ing Boomerangs and Euphoria memes: queen of everything and beloved sword-wielder Carly Rae Jepsen teased a snippet of new music.

The pop star posted a video on her Instagram Story from a studio in London, working on a section of a new song. In the clip, she appears on a couch — wearing a very Red (Taylor's Version) newsboy hat — and listens to the playback of herself delivering the repeated line, "I can't face it alone," seemingly trying to decide between takes.

"Help! I'm going crazy. I can't face it alone," Jepsen wrote, adding: "Also, hi from London."

This teaser follows the singer-songwriter's most recent release, the 2020 holiday hoopla anthem "It's Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries." That prolific year for Jepsen also saw one-off "Me and the Boys in the Band" and Dedicated Side B.

These 30 seconds may not be much, but they sure are something: the yet-untitled song already sounds like a cool-toned, '80s-inspired bop bathed in spacious, icy synths and Jepsen's signature doe-eyed vocal inflections.

Listen to the sneak peek below.

"Call Me Maybe" was recently robbed of being named Best BC Song in a viral online poll shortly after the hit single's 10-year anniversary.
