Cannibal Corpse To Bring An Evisceration Plague With New Album

BY Keith CarmanPublished Nov 5, 2008

Just when it seems as if Tampa, Florida—by way of Buffalo, New York—gore/grind metal gurus Cannibal Corpse couldn’t possibly outdo themselves, well, they do. Finally following up the incredibly popular 2006 opus Kill, the Corpse have officially dubbed their 11th studio effort, Evisceration Plague, setting a release date for February 3, 2009.

Completed once again by Kill producer/Hate Eternal guitarist Erik Rutan at his Mana Recording Studios and released via Metal Blade Records, the 12-track affair promises to maintain the band’s trademark guttural rumbling and inhumanly fast blast-beats coupled with lyrics that would make Wes Craven squeamish.

Evisceration Plague features such endearing tracks as, "A Cauldron Of Hate,” "Carrion Sculpted Entity” and "Skewered From Ear To Ear.” Even bassist Alex Webster is shocked at the band’s ever-intensifying dirge, even after 18 years.

"Our goal has always been to try and make each new album we record our heavies,” says Webster. "That goal was a bit more challenging this time… I would say we've been able to achieve this goal and I think our fans will agree. Evisceration Plague has the best guitar sound we've ever recorded and the entire band has never played with more precision and power.”
