Braids Sign to Kanine Records

In what's proving to be a pretty killer week for Montreal-based bands, indie rockers Braids have just announced that they've been signed to Kanine Records.

While earlier this year we reported that the dream-pop dabblers, whom truthfully moved out from Calgary in 2008, were working on their debut full-length Native Speaker, the specifics at the time were pretty scant. Well, things are still a bit up in the air.

A press release confirms signing to Kanine - also home to Surfer Blood and the Depreciation Guild - but now lists their debut disc, which was recorded "in the bowels of a rickety house across from the Hasidic synagogue," as "Album Title TBA."

A tracklisting has yet to be posted, but hopefully the album that may or may not be known as Native Speaker will include the epic, ethereal jam "Lemonade," which made its way around blogs this summer. Whatever the album is called, it's sure to be a melodic head trip, and it's expected to drop early next year.

In the meantime, congratulate Braids for us with a hearty high-five at Pop Montreal this Saturday (October 2).
