Bon Iver's S. Carey Announces 'Range of Light' Solo Album, Shares Track and Books North American Tour
In addition to touring as a member of Bon Iver's band, percussionist/multi-instrumentalist Sean Carey releases his own music under the name S. Carey. His next release is Range of Light, a full-length that will be out on April 1 though Jagjaguwar.

The album follows 2012's Hoyas EP and marks Carey's first full-length since 2010's All We Grow. It was recorded at Justin Vernon's April Base Studios in Fall Creek, WI. This is the first S. Carey album recorded in a studio.

The album features contributions from Vernon, in addition to Carey's live band. Carey said in a statement:

The 'Range of Light,' to me, is the range of my own happiness and the range in anyone's happiness, sadness…it became a very California-inspired record for me. California and Arizona, specifically, because when I was a kid, my parents got divorced, and my dad lived in Arizona. Every summer we would go visit him and explore — basically road-trip around and camp and fish and hike, and do all that stuff in Arizona and in California, because we had a bunch of cousins and aunts and uncles that lived there. Some of the songs are about those memories, which again goes back to the 'Range of Light.'

The album cover is above and the tracklist is below. At the bottom of this page, stream the folksy album cut "Fire-Scene." That track is available is an instant download with pre-orders on iTunes or through SC Distribution. The deluxe bundle for the album includes nifty-looking black and white marbled vinyl, a CD, a 7-inch with "Fire-Scene" and the exclusive B-side "Chrysalis," and a poster.
