Blue Blood

"This Is the Life"

Former Gift Horse frontman Hunter Morris is set to release his full-length debut with Blue Blood next week, but before This Is the Life lands, Exclaim! has got the exclusive first listen to the album's title track.

The new project started as a solo endeavour on the outskirts of his hometown of Athens, GA, but once in the studio, it morphed into more of a collaborative effort. MGMT guitarist Hank Sullivant hopped on board as a producer, but soon took on a multi-instrumentalist role on the album. They also recruited J.J. Bower of Dead Confederate on drums and Dave Spivey on keyboards.

A far cry from the scraps of songs and unfinished lyrics that Morris began with, the result is a record of full-sounding, psychedelic pop. "This Is the Life" pairs airy vocals with swirling guitars, serving up a "daydreamy slice of indie gloom pop." You can hear what that sounds like for yourself by hitting play below.

This Is the Life officially arrives on April 28 via This Is American Music.
