Turn-of-the-millennium pop-punk nudists blink-182 have famously clashed over the years, with singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge leaving the band at various points. Those disagreements even extend to the title of their 2003 album, since the band members aren't aligned on what it's actually called.

Singer-bassist Mark Hoppus discusses the album in his recently released memoir Fahrenheit-182, explaining that they considered calling it Our Pet Sounds to reflect the effort and ambition that went into making the experimental-by-their-standards LP. Ultimately, they decided, "We didn't want a joke title."

Hoppus writes, "It was Travis who had the idea: 'What if we didn't have any title? What if we just called it blink-182?' Perfect. We all agreed. (Or so I thought. I call it the untitled album. Travis calls it the self-titled album.)" At other points throughout the book, Hoppus simply refers to the album as Untitled.

On streaming services, the album is simply titled blink-182 — generally a universal sign for an album being self-titled, so Barker seems to have won this argument. Maybe Self-Untitled could be a compromise?

This isn't the only time blink-182 have had some confusion surrounding one of their album titles. They called their 2019 album NINE, and Hoppus's memoir calls it their ninth album — but various online resources refer to it as their eighth full-length. This presumably depends on whether one considers the 1994 demo tape Buddha an album or not.
