L.A. rockers Bleached delivered their debut album Ride Your Heart back in 2013, and they've just unveiled that a follow-up full-length is on the way. Titled Welcome the Worms, the band's sophomore LP is due out on April 1 via Dead Oceans.
It hears sisters Jennifer (vocals/guitar) and Jessie Clavin (guitar) and their bassist Micayla Grace teaming up with producers Joe Chiccarelli and Carlos de la Garza to channel an emotional string of events into a new set of songs.
Jessie was struggling after getting evicted from her house, while her sister and frontwoman Jennifer ended an unhealthy romantic relationship, in turn spurring a reinvigorated creative drive.
"I was a loose cannon," Jennifer explained in a press release. "I was losing serious control of my personal and creative life. I was falling apart, trying to escape. I felt like Bleached was the only thing I actually cared about."
Channelling the trying times into music, the resulting album paints a picture of Los Angeles through the eyes of the Clavin sisters. Stories about dating musicians and dirty drunken nights in dive bars weave together in a grander tale of the starstruck city.
The group have shared a video for the album's opening track "Keep On Keepin' On," which was directed by Lana Kim and gives viewers some insight into the group's daily life in L.A., as well as some extra dramatic shots of the three-piece running through the streets after dark.
